Property services industry moves forward with electronic signatures
Consumers can now sign and witness property documents including sale contracts and residential leases online in a huge step forward for the property services industry.
REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin says it was great to see the NSW Government pass legislation late last year confirming that property documents like sale contracts and residential leases can be signed and witnessed online.
“This is good for agents, sellers, buyers, landlords and tenants,” Mr McKibbin said.
“Times are changing, and technology is playing a more pivotal role in the property services industry. This new NSW law brings the industry in-line with other industries embracing technology and streamline business practices.”
“We lobbied hard for this new law, and we are proud that we can provide the tools property professionals need to take advantage of the efficiencies this law now enables.”
“To give one example, with digital forms and agreements, and digital signing platforms – such as REI Forms Live and DocuSign – at the ready, property managers across NSW can develop, communicate and finalise residential tenancy agreements digitally,” Mr McKibbin said.
